Friday, Sept. 7. In the evening I
heard vespers performed at the church of
the Annunciation, by a great number of
singers, priests, and laymen, accompanied
only by a little organ, a violoncello, and
two double bases. The music was in the
old choral stile of the sixteenth century.
After this full performance, in the great
choir, there was other singing in different
chapels of this beautiful church, by boys
placed in different organ lofts, who were
accompanied by tenor and base voices
below.

Saturday, Sept. 8. This morning, there
